Sally Port
Sally port is too small and narrow with limited ceiling height. It can be challenging to handle difficult inmates and it does not fit transportation bus or full size emergency vehicles. The existing sally port only allows one inmate transfer at a time.
Receiving Office
There is not a secure holding facility before entering the jail. The existing space is very small and doesn't allow for multiple inmates at the same time. There are no padded rooms.
Restraining Area
Restraining area is not padded so inmates have to be watched while waiting for entry to the jail - which consumes officer's time.
Outdated Interior Communications
Still using interior communications (PA, phone, cameras) that are 40 years old.
Elevator
The elevator to the 3rd floor jail creates a security risk to the staff but also restricts quick medical and/or officer support response when needed. If power is lost, there is no access to 3rd floor.
Booking Area
The booking space is on the 3rd floor and a major pass-through area when moving inmates, causing potential security and safety issues. It's also next to padded cell which can be risk potential to staff and other inmates when dealing with disruptive inmates.
Detox Cell
Limited number of detox cells to house inmates overnight.
Padded Cell
Only one padded cell room to handle inmates. Often have more than one inmate at a time. Room isn't designed well and can be easily damaged by inmates.

Fingerprints are taken in this room when inmates are brought into custody. The room also serves as storage and medical room. Cabinets are not in good condition.

Cell With Clear Windows
These cells have clear glass. In more current facilities, inmates typically don't see outside of the cell and are observed from the outside.

40 year old technology on food ports. Better systems exist today.
Kitchen
Kitchen size is inadequate for number of inmates to be served.
Kitchen
The ceiling leaks over the food prep area so food often has to be moved to better location to prep.
Kitchen
Due to limited space, there are only two ovens so meals have to be planned around what fits in the ovens and the ovens are positioned in a way that staff is prone to burning themselves. There are no food warmers.
